How to install Tesla pedal covers

Stainless steel pedal covers take a few minutes to fit. Doing it carefully matters, because they sit under your feet. Here is the safe way.

Before you start

  • Park on level ground and put the car in Park.
  • Clean the original rubber pedals and let them dry.
  • Check the covers match your model: Model 3 or Model Y, 2016–2026.

Fitting

The installation of Tesla pedal covers needs no tools, and the same installation steps apply to both covers in the set.

Line up the cover with the top edge of the pedal and press firmly from the top down until it sits flush. On the self-snap lock version, press until both side locks click. On the press-fit version with rubber inserts, work from one end to the other.

Check before driving

Press each pedal several times with your foot. Nothing should move, click or catch on the floor mat. If a cover shifts, take it off, clean the pedal again and refit. Make sure the floor mat cannot slide under the brake pedal.

Care

Whether you drive a Model Y Juniper, a Model 3 Highland or an earlier Tesla Model 3 or Model Y, the care routine is the same and keeps the brushed finish looking new for years.

Wipe the steel and the rubber inserts with a damp cloth. Grit makes any pedal slippery; a clean pedal grips better in wet shoes.

Why upgrade the factory pedals

Tesla Model 3 and Model Y pedals are plain rubber pads. Pedal covers are an easy upgrade that adds protection for the factory rubber, a performance look and, on the YONZEE versions, extra grip. Stainless steel pedal covers are more durable than carbon fiber or plastic designs and keep their finish for years in a busy footwell.

  • Compatible models: Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, 2016–2026, including Highland and Juniper.
  • Set includes the brake pedal cover and the accelerator cover.

A pedal upgrade is also one of the most common questions new owners ask: do I replace the pedals or cover them? Covering is the quality answer — anti-slip covers sit over the factory pads, keep the original parts as they were, and pair well with other cabin upgrades such as a steering wheel cover.

  • Design follows the factory pedal shape for a clean interior look.

Pedal covers come in carbon fiber, black-painted and brushed metal finishes. Carbon fiber looks sporty but the gloss shows scuffs; black paint can wear through at the foot area after a year of driving. Brushed stainless steel keeps its finish the longest and is the best protection for the factory rubber underneath, which is why it is the most common choice for Tesla owners who want a performance look that lasts.

For Model Y Juniper and Model 3 Highland, the brushed metal finish matches the new interior trim. For older Model 3 and Model Y cars, the black rubber grip pattern blends with the existing footwell.

Checking clearance and feel

After installation, sit in the car with your usual shoes and drive slowly around a parking area. Move your foot from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal several times. You should feel solid grip, no flex at the edge of the cover and clear space between the pedals and the floor mat. If anything feels different from the factory pedals, stop and check the fit before everyday driving.

  • Feel: firm, no rocking or clicking.
  • Edge: flush with the factory pedal, no overhang that could catch a shoe.
  • Clearance: floor mat secured with its clips, not touching the brake pedal.

Our team of Tesla owners created a dedicated cover for each pedal, so the brake, the accelerator and the feel of the whole pedal system stay consistent. Most owners find the improved grip and metal finish change the everyday driving experience more than they expected, and covering the factory pads saves them from wear on every short trip.

Start with the brake: it is larger and easier to line up, so you learn how the cover seats. Then fit the accelerator, which sits closer to the footwell wall. If a cover is tight, warm the factory rubber with your hand for a minute; it becomes more flexible and the cover presses on more easily. Customers report the whole installation takes about ten minutes.
