Why a Tesla-specific phone mount
Teslas have no traditional vents to clip a phone to, and the big screen does most of the work. A magnetic phone mount shaped to the dashboard of the Model Y YL or Model 3 Highland holds the phone in your line of sight for navigation apps and calls, with strong magnets that keep it steady through corners and over bumps. MagSafe phones, cases and installation
A Tesla phone holder works best with MagSafe: an iPhone 12 or later, or any phone in a MagSafe-compatible case, snaps straight onto the magnetic car mount. For other phones, the included metal adapter sticks to the back of the case with adhesive. Installation is specifically designed for the Tesla dashboard, so there is no vent clip or ball joint wobbling in a car that has no traditional air vents.
Magnetic mounts do not charge the phone on their own. If you want wireless charging, a MagSafe wireless charger can sit on the mount; otherwise pair the holder with the console hub and its retractable USB-C cables. Keep the phone away from direct sun on the dashboard in summer — heat is the main cause of charging issues and slowed phones.
